![]() I had access to the beta and just couldnt get into the game at all. Lacking the tools, access, or knowledge to tinker with Tropico 6 beta made me lose interest especially since I could fire up Tropico 5 to get my Dictator fix that way. ![]() I was disappointed when I heard that the game was going to use Unreal Engine. My knowledge of UE4 is very limited but it looks like mod support is something the developers have to specifically build into the game. Tropico 6 Mods Series Has SorelyThis is something that the Tropico series has sorely lacked in the past. No modding tools, except a map editor, have ever been released by developers. Modding Tropico 4 and 5 is possible because someone wrote a tool to extract the games lua files from the HPK files. Those lua files contained all the building data and functions used to build the game and they could be rewritten to behave differently. They never released a tool to allow us to import new meshes, buildings, or animations to the game. True modding support is something that needs to be a part of the development process. Tropico 6 Mods Mods In AA system needs to be in place to handle mods in a way that does not break the multiplayer environment. Simply disallowing mods in multiplayer is not a good solution because it excludes good QOL mods. A map editor wouldnt permit mods like Resource Manager, Citizen Overhaul, or Mass Upgrader. Editing terrain and building stats is not enough to keep me engaged. ![]() Without that evidence I cant justify the purchase of the game or the investment in my time and effort. I am not upset about it, nor do I have any negative feelings towards Tropico 6 or its developers. I hope the title is a huge success and that success brings modders of far higher skill than mine to the game. Perhaps the future will bring us the kind of modding support that will capture my interest and draw me back in. I will continue to maintain this site and the mods I have created for Tropico 5.
