First developed in 1985 as the markets first PC-based seismic data processing software, VISTA - which is also available for the LINUX environment - delivers proven algorithms for optimal field quality control to complete office processing. The entry next to Host Computer causes the server to start up on the local machine by default.
This tutorial is being developed on the fly with interested FreeUSP users. If there is something you would like covered in this section please post to freeusplistfreeusp.org and we will see if we can include it. This is a work in progress and will progress as user demand and my ability to apportion time to the exersize dictates. The faster we correct any mistakes, the better for everyone involved.Paul G. A. Garossino. The goal here is to take a dataset from SEG-Y data as might be obtained from a contractor and get to a stacked image useful for interpretation. I dont know what kind of disaster I am letting myself in for here, but what better way to stress a toolkit than process a line submitted by the user community live fire. Waldek Ogonowski (Ray) has done us the great favour of making available a land vibroseis dataset donated to the public domain by Geofizyka Torun Sp z o.o, Poland. Thanks very much Ray. Once you have the data on disk your directory should look something like. Fire up xsd X Seismic Display which is the FreeUSP seismic viewer. If this is your first exposure to the tool you should be aware that xsd is a clientserver application. The server program runs on any host computer that you specify. The server rasterizes the data for display and supplies a compressed version of that rasterization back to the client program for display. This allows one to efficiently view data from remote locations. If you only have one machine then the client and server will both be running on your local box. Vista Seismic Processing Tutorial Install Them InDownload the xsd colourmaps and install them in a directory under your home. You can name that directory anything you want so why not use Colourmaps. You can, and eventually will, create you own colourmap files anytime you want. For this tutorial however it will be useful for us all to use the same colourmap when conversing about any aspect of the data. Prior to plotting your first bit of data click on the Options entry on the mother window. The Project File window that appears allows you to set some global parameters. Fill out the entries indicated with values appropriate for your installation.
